Since this is an European blog in English, is it possible to put a link to www.overseasvote.org as a blog link?  I am a volunteer for the OverseasVote Foundation and I know many Americans living overseas will find this website most helpful in getting information on how to vote in US Elections.

There is also a signup page for volunteers and I need some help in data entry. The OverseasVote Foundation is a non-partisan organization and I welcome all Americans who are interested in helping other Americans to vote from Overseas and our Military. I will publish a diary later on the subject.  We have interesting results from a survey we took of voters who registered in last year's election. You can see the survey results yourself at www.overseasvote.org.

Aren't military votes overwhelmingly Republican?

I've spoken to a few soldiers lately who expressed a keen desire for leadership, a quality that they actually came out and said was lacking in their current commander in chief.

Good Question. It's difficult to tell. I think people in the top of the military are overwhelminly republican but it's a different story for the others. I am a member of Democrats Abroad and we have quite a few veterans in our group. Our DA Chair was a physician in the military until her base closed.  As a volunteer for Overseasvote2004, I rec'd emails from people in the military that were democratic and preferred to use our website. It's very difficult for people in the military. Many soldiers have to fax their ballot by handing it to someone over a counter and they have no privacy and they lose the opportunity to cast a secret ballot. We rec'd many positive emails from both parties actually.  Unfortunately, many people did not receive their ballot in time and did not get an opportunity to vote. We are working hard to change that this time. Check out the survey results when you can.
