Mrs. Merkel has proposed to make him his finance minister, but I am inclined to not putting too much emphasis on this... I am only going to believe that Kirchhof becomes finance minister when he has sworn his oath before the Bundestag.

Well, I think the fact that Merkel chose such a market liberal as her expert is important enough - it signifies the direction of thinking.

The slogan in the CDU spot: "Für mehr Wachstum - und mehr Arbeit" (= for more growth - and more work, i.e. jobs) signifies the same: wages not mentioned.

*Traitor*, n.
A benighted individual who perceives an illusory distinction between serving his nation and abetting the criminals who govern it.

You are right, but I assumed that this is no real news. The CDU's former slogan "Sozial ist, was Arbeit schafft" ("Social is what creates jobs") was very much the same. The golden rule for every conservative politician:

"Don't mention the wages!"
