The idea may make certain sense in, say, Australia (my definition of a big country). Architects shouldn't try to add everything together into the limited space we have in our country.
As for stations in Paris, I love Gare du Nord, as the gateway from CDG. Getting off PER and walking down the long platform, I gradually begin acting like what I believe is the French style. I will become a patissier, God willing.
