I see two separate strands here: one is the top EU politicians making noise, which to me seems essentially a blame game for the home audience ("don't blame us for high prices, it's all outsiders' fault") and thus shaking the air (but also irresponsible as Migeru says); and at the same time the crowing of assorted propagandists who'd like to play geopolitical battles, which is also hot air because of lack of power behind it, but similarly it is also dangerous, if the propaganda gets into too many ears. *Lunatic*, n.
