it seems now that they give up until further notice..
...the delay was supposed to be moemntary.. like a couple of weeks..now who knows?

Regarding trains.. tboth PSOE and PP do liek AVE.. they both like it.. becuase they want madrid to be the epicenter of conenctivity and linking Madrid to all the areas of Spain radially was in the agenda...surprisingly the execution of the works never was so good as the first one... all with delays, extra-costs... but trains.. investemnt in real train which take people out of caras.. NUOP Nobody cares ..regional trains, city trains, and so forth.. noone gave a damna shit.. no money in 10 years..completely underfunded everywhere .. in Madrid the president and major decided to spend all the extra money they got for "capitality expenditures" to increase and mantain the network.. the rest of Spain did not ahve the money nor the interest to divert money form other sources to avoid the collapse...

The disregard for the local trains in Spain is infinite.... or was...because people are now pissed not bacuse the AVE stops it cosntruction (everybody want s the fuck.... construction work to stop until someone grown up takes cahrge) but because the lcoal and regional railway network collapsed.. due to the works... and after the network collapsed the highways collapsed (in the south of Barcelona)

A pleasure

I think that's an exaggeration. While Barcelona's system wasn't upgraded, there have been Cercanías expansion/upgrade projects in many parts of Spain, from Cádiz to Gijón, resulting in significant growth of passenger numbers, and the new CIVIA trains arrived even in Barcelona. I think the primary field of neglect was branchlines.

There was soem train xpansions in areas that could getfunding form the UE.. in any other are.. nothing .. nip zero..  (I mean extrmelly low amounts)..

The balearic island who should have a train system long ago ahs nothing..a nd the new rban line collapsed too under water and it is not fucntioning.

valenica had some projectes started in the 92-94... and there were completed slowly afterwards.

The intereegional train system is a shame and there has been no upgrade except for the Ave-realted lines...

But of course  I have toc ompletely agree , the branchlines were the most... and probablyc atalonia the worst of the worst.

On the Madrid-centeredness of AVE, I note that while in opposition, PSOE thematised this (I read multiple articles to that tune in the raiway media), to which Aznar responded by announcing some more radial projects -- chiefly the one along the Northern coast (which would probably be very uneconomic).
