This is a myth that needs to be dispelled. The price of oil has also increased with respect to the euro, but not as quickly.

No, oil pricces rose faster. Even in the last 15 weeks. Say, using some simultaneous record days:

September 28th: €1 = $1.3979, crude oil (WTI futures) $82.38 = €58.93

October 18th: €1 = $1.4310, crude oil (WTI futures) $90.02 = €62.91

BTW, here is a chart from MEES of the development until 2004:
