A big general strike in Hungary just is ending.

Participating: teachers for 1-6 hours, one hospital, countryside bus drivers in part of the country, the airport at Budapest in the early morning, four power plants for two hours. Unfortunately, the strike is not without politics, the call for the general strike was by a smaller association of unions close to the right-wing opposition, whose major party, right-populist Fidesz, called on its supporters to support the strike.

However, the most significant part of the strike is with wider union backing: the railway strike against branchline closures from 06h to 12h.

With no trains running, I couldn't even be at the wrokplace striking, am about to leave for work.

My way to work was rather chaotic, there were scheduled trains not running even two hours after.

I note that just before the strike, the government declared that they "delay" the closure of the disputed 38 lines (it was only 25 before the first two-hour warning strike...). Which means not much: they say they attempt to convert 26 lines into regional lines (speak: paid and run by cash-strapped local communities), and for the remaining 12, they start a "test period" with parallel bus and rail service, to see which draws more passengers... what idiocy. And all this again decided unilaterally, without consultation.
