I've checked TGV and hotels, and it looks do-able for me. But I won't be able to confirm for a day or two yet.

Now booked.

I'll be there on Friday, if anyone else is around for a Friday evening pre-meet?

Sounds great! I'll be into Montparnasse at 11.25 am, but I have to keep lunch and afternoon free for appointments. I also now know by email that I'll be meeting In Wales at 8 pm at Gare du Nord.

We could meet up late afternoon-early evening and go for a Montmartre stroll (with others welcome). And perhaps, if you know a good place for dinner after 8 pm, we could set that up as a rendezvous for any others who'd like to join us. Maybe the place Rue Ordener you mentioned before? Or any other place you may think of.

Great. I'll send you an email with my phone number at my   home and my portable number which I use when I'm in Paris. The cafe on Rue Ordener is about six stops from Gare de Nord on the 31 bus which you get right near Gare de Nord on Blvd Magenta. The stop is Damremont-Ordener. That cafe would be a good choice except if they are having live music, but that's usually on Thursday evening. I had  a delicious salmon quiche with a wonderful salad two weeks ago. The plate was only 8,50 euros and beers are only 3,50. As we get closer to the date we can see who else is coming.

I've been away from the internet for about a week now and all this organisational activity has occurred! I should be coming and likely arriving Friday morning-ish. Will confirm when I get back to real internet access in about a week or so.

It's just the miraculous operation of supply and demand, Jérôme. No sense in trying to organize - it's the invisible hand that does it.

The fact that LEP and I hold a hugely profitable quasi-monopoly on patented Montmartre guided tours is not to be construed in any way as a form of market distortion.

Insinuations to the contrary will be met with a painful lawsuit from my IP lawyers, Scroo'em & Doo'em.
