I still remember the hub-bub when the then-recently formed/renamed/merged/whatever Merita Bank paid x millions of Finnish marks for their logo in the mid-90s. Of course, a couple of years later it merged into Nordea, and the überexpensive logo went bye-bye. Presumably Nordea's logo also caused bucketloads of cash.
Heck, the most I received for one of my logo designs was a few grand. Clearly I don't have the right connections.

You don't! Simonetta Carbonera got 60,000 (as I recall) for coming up with the brandword 'Solo'. I also had an old friend working as Presentations Manager at the Wolff Olins agency that did Merita. I got to hear about some of the nice perks they all got for that one. The total was around 4 mill mummonmarkkalla, I think.

12,500 per letter?!? Insanity, I say!

I did some web and graphics design on the side for a while (though I wasn't necessarily particularly good at it ;-) while I was studying. Only thing I got in terms of a website at the moment is a half-finished site mostly for testing stuff.

The website is real nice too; functional and easy to navigate, and not flashy for the sake of being flashy, like some websites...

In fact, the number was so shocking I lost my ability to do basic arithmetics. 15,000/letter would be the correct number. Good thing I'm not in charge of calculating satellite trajectories at ESA.

That was in mummonmarkka, not € - but still.

I met the lady a few times, and she is indeed smart. Former Memphis collaborator, now living in Germany. But we fell out when I realised she didn't quite understand Finland.
