Speaking of SCOOP, I have finally updated the first few points of the New User Guide; give your comments/critiques.

Special note to Sven, whose draft was mostly used: this edit was forgotten three months ago because two frontpagers each believed the other took care of the matter.

Regarding the issue that came up recently, an explanation of the comment display choices, a text draft would be welcome from anyone who did the trial & error -- I haven't ever tried to re-set my own comment settings, so I don't have a clue myself.

Thanks DoDo.

One question I'd have is: What is SCOOP? I went out looking myself...

So I'd recommend to add:

Blog, frontpage, diaries, comments -- what do these mean, and how do I find my way around the site?

As explained in the FAQ, European Tribune is a community blog, using the SCOOP software. If you don't know what SCOOP is, read about it here.

Italics is my add-in.

Also, I think Migeru(?) requested a macro for the bilingual columns. I've no conception how hard that is, but a macro would greatly facilitate my undertakings in any case. Now I've learned that other language ET sisters are off the agenda for the time being, I'd suggest to stimulate multilingualism wherever it is easy to do so.

Such a macro is beyond my powers. A few months back, I asked someone whether that can be done in her ET Firefox extension, but she was busy; then I tried to do it myself. I now have a bilin function in my Firefox, e.g. I can insert marked text as the right-hand column of a bilingual column into the edit field. But the one thing I failed with was inserting each paragraph into a separate cell/table row.

If anyone got a clue of the language & is interested to finish this, I will dig up the code.
