Abandoned House along the Paseo de Montejo.  This photo was taken with 35mm Kodak chromgenic (b&w dye film processed using Kodak's C-41 process) and then processed in photoshop as a tritone overprint.

Sorry, that is "chromogenic.")

Wow. Lovely tonal range- platinum-like.

Exactly.  Nice film.  I also use Ilford XP2 Super and actually prefer it.

Merida is an amazing place for black and white photography.  Known as the "white city", probably because of the color of most buildings, it is very different from the rest of Mexico that loves bright primary colors.  The surface textures are a photographer's dream with all old buidings having an underlying structure of limestone rock.

Another old abandoned house, central Merida. Kodak chromogenic b&w. Converted to duotone.

Gate to the central city.  I know of several of these old "gates" on main routes to the central plaza.  Not sure how old they are.  Several roads entering the State of Yucatan also have "gates".  Maybe signifying Yucatan's isolation/separation from the rest of the country.

Passageway near the old house above.

Abandoned apartments or houses along the Paseo de Montejo. I believe these have been torn down now.  A pity because this old architecture was interesting.

photo exhibition at the Hotel de Ville. At great personal risk to myself, so that you all could share the experience with me I took many photos. The legality of that was questionable. Here's several of the earlier photos from almost 100 years ago.

That was the 1919 July 14th. Which, indeed, was used to celebrate the end of the war. (I was there too !)

Linca means he was with me at the photo exhibition. He was NOT at the celebration in 1919.

P.S. I'll post my shots of the photos from the 30's, 40,s and 50's in next week's photo blog. The one's made during the Petain years and the Nazi occupation are quite informative.

Are you talking about the German soldier who took to photograph bathing parisian women ? The "leg man" as you were referring to him ?

No. Unfortunately, I didn't get those. (They would be nice for my private collection.) I did get some of the billboard propaganda from Petain's government, and the obvious Nazi takeover of Paris with the prominence of the swatstica.
