Mastella resigned his office with an inflamatory speech in the House accusing extremist judges of conspiracy against the higher objectives of the nation.
It all seems well rehearsed. One wonders if it wasn't Mastella in person who arranged the whole show as a convenient excuse to bring down the government.
We will see in the next hours what happens. If Mastella's small party will continue to support the government or not in the Senate. Considering the ovations he received from the right wing, it's doubtful.
In the meantime Cardinal Ruini has called on the faithful to attend next Sunday's Angelicus in St. Peter's Square to testify against the persecution against Catholics in Italy.
