Whereabouts in Tokyo were you thinking? I know Ikebukuro and Shibuya the best, although I must admit my handle on ramen-ya, European beer pubs, and western restaurants is better than that of izakaya. My little town has enough good Japanese food for me, and when I go to Tokyo I usually splurge on stuff I can't get at home.
