So far it's cost us something of the order of €1,500 in tax increases. I'm sure that total will go up. Now, we should never have been paying so little tax - they cut too much in their obesience to free market dogma - but it's still depressing.

Part of this a 1% "levy" on
all
income (rising to 2% in excess of €100K), including for those on very low income - anything to avoid saying they're raisng taxes. That's not nice. And an increase in VAT of 0.5%.
