Nah.  No more than a .001% chance of Obama being assassinated.  Not impossible, but highly unlikely.  You lived through the '60s, so I imagine it strikes you as the same scary shit that went on then, but the bubble presidents live in today is worlds apart from the days of the Kennedys and King and even the attempt on Reagan.

I know I would feel a whole lot better if he wasn't always being compared to Lincoln and Kennedy.  Every time he holds a rally at the capitol in Springfield, I get a shiver down my spine.  Even more locally, the neighborhood here is being called "Fort Hyde Park" because of the huge level of security around his house.  It's not the safest neighborhood in the world to begin with, so most people around here are happy to have more security services in the area, even if it means they can't find parking.  But apparently paying for it all it is starting to become an issue for taxpayers.  I hope Drew is right, and we've moved past these things.  But ...  It is something I know I worry about.
