Obama's Aunt in US illegally.

Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned....

According to Federal Election Commission documents filed by the Obama campaign, Onyango has contributed $260 to Obama over a period of time. Under federal election law, only U.S. citizens or green-card holders are legally permitted to give money to campaigns. Onyango, who listed her employer as the Boston Housing Authority, gave in small increments to the Obama campaign. Her latest contribution was $5 on Sept. 19......

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino said Saturday that he had no idea how Onyango might have qualified for public housing with a standing deportation order. He said he's not involved in the operations of the agency, even though he appoints the head, because it runs mainly on federal and state dollars...

I have a feeling that this is going to cause a lot of independents who haven't voted yet to break against Obama.

Illegal immigration, illegal campaign donations, welfare fraud.......

It's going to rile up a lot of people who otherwise might have voted for Obama in rural areas, which largely haven't voted yet.

Early voting is primarily an urban phenomena, and leans toward demographics that favor democrats.  The elderly, students, etc.

My feeling is that the race is going to be very tight, and that it's going to come down to how Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania go.

And I'll give my consent to any government that does not deny a man a living wage-Billy Bragg

Conyers has done more than hint:
Democratic U.S. Rep. John Conyers of Michigan fired off a letter asking Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to investigate whether someone leaked the information to the media in an effort to damage Obama.

"The AP reports that it 'could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved,' a very disturbing (suggestion) indeed," read the letter from Conyers, who is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

"This leak is deplorable and I urge you to take immediate action to investigate and discipline those responsible."

Is it an offence to fail to report one's illegally resident aunt to the DHS?

A vivid image of what should exist acts as a surrogate for reality. Pursuit of the image then prevents pursuit of the reality -- John K. Galbraith

No, but it's illegal for the DHS to release the immigration status of individuals.

One should also be aware that Obama's "aunt" is a fairly distant relative...
