I don't know if I read, or heard or just presumed that after factories are closing that people are going back to their native towns. I believe that I had heard it on a BBC report yesterday, but I should remember to take all news with a grain of salt. It is not atypical for migrants to flood cities in time of woe.

But I had also remembered from several years ago that the government was also trying to put a lot of money into farming communities, in terms of communication and roads for example...an effort to uplift them from primitive conditions as well as keep some percentage of people on farms.

The news of companies moving out of China for manufacturing has been going on for a couple years, but without negative impact to China since they continued to expand. It is part of a natural cycle of things of course, but my bet is that the government was hip to its coming. Also, going to exhibitions (consumer electronics, for example), one saw a huge number of Chinese companies selling (or trying to sell) under their own marque. And their attendance were all heavily subsidized by government funds...just like Korean and other country's companies.

It will be an interesting game to watch. One wonders that even with healthcare, social security and education costs unleashed, whether the new middle class will not save for these things anyway...they may like and trust the leaders who are slowly bringing them out of total subservience, but the history of saving and the history of upheavals go way back.

Never underestimate their intelligence, always underestimate their knowledge.
