In a way, it's a bit sad to say it, but most likely this will be the longest thread before we are done.

Possibly to-date.  Greater days are ahead for old ET.  Just watch.

Maybe we should organize a huge web-event for the European Parliament Elections in June? Maybe a special section with poll tracking, a dictionary of national and European parties, interviews, etc. I mean if not here, where else?

but then, US presidential election are set up to be the one that generate more comments : it's the one that actually has a world and europe wide importance, has a chance of vote rigging, is divided in a low enough number of constituencies that each can be talked about...

And we haven't had EP election coverage on ET, yet. That shall be the subject of the next semester, I hope.

Are we in school?  Do we have an ET uniform?  Short pants?  High socks? :)

Exactly.

For Europeans, two diaries are expected by the end of december : a summary of the EP electoral system and a rundown of current MEPs, and a summary of candidates for the next EP election with summary of influence on national politics and issues, national and europeans, that will be discussed during the campaign.

For Americans, a single diary at most celebrating the Obama election, with results of your own state's elections.

Yes, but I'm not up on all the lore, propositions, gossip, inside baseball &c. that you need for a really spicy election diary.

Last night's OT got very slow above 150 comments. It's achingly slow for me now.

I dread having to watch the BBC's ghastly hackneyed coverage tonight. Why can't I get MSNBC here ?

You won't want MSNBC.  Remember they stripped Keith and Tweety of the anchor chairs and gave the show to David Gregory, who's a total McCain hack.  I actually liked Tweety and Keith's coverage.  I don't know if I can stomach Gregory, so I may stick with Brian Williams tonight.

Yes, they will.  Keith is paired with Tweety, Rachel with Pat, Gene Robinson thrown in somewhere in all likelihood.

Before the advent of the Internet I would spend election nights flipping channels and yelling at the TV.

Screw the talking head MSM morons.

I'll be listening over the Internet to Pacifica Radio, most likely KPFK radio out of Los Angles, switching to NPR out of Iowa City, Iowa, and New York City when I get bored.

I even recall in 1980 searching the SW radio band for some sort of live US election results commentary. The same with British results at the time. The fact that I can now learn real-time results from Leon county FLA and follow all the local elections anywhere in the planet pretty much, still amazes me.

I'll probably listen to KCRW after midnight Suomi time. iTunes talk radio channels are my favourites for lying in bed in luxury.
