It seems as tho the community have pulled together a bit and with a lot of remote support, it's back up. Only one server was down although the others are still suspect. Nevertheless, the sites it hosted are back up but without guarantees of service.

I don't understand why this happened at all. Managed hosting, with backups, is hardly a cripplingly expensive commodity. Bodging together an amateur solution and getting upset when some eleven year olds take it down doesn't seem very profesional.

I understand that the site used a variant of scoop that was uniquely attractive to the sort of ground up blogging favoured by the liberal left.

As someone pointed out, it's a bit of an amateur effort, not helped by some people not paying bills.
