I always have the impression I'm harsh and too blunt when reading myself afterwards, as those small phrases don't convey all <sniffing>
On this precise subject, I believe that the two side of the Channel "are" the extremes ! No attitudes to wealth, religion, disability, fame etc in any group, can ever change without a shared experience of other groups'.
Relationships with, for example muslims, would much improve if we could share their experience, instead of looking at it through a telescope with a filter on it. You can't be me, I'm taken
