European Tribune

I implemented a second major edit in Wikipedia's President of the European Council article. It consists of smaller changes to the First President intro section, and an entirely new Jean-Claude Juncker section.

Do you think it is well-written, and objective? Migeru or who else is a Wikipedian, does it meet the standards?

Also, there is one thing I am not pleased with, but not sure how to re-edit it. The page now displays Slovenian PM Janez Janša as "Incumbent". However, presently only the Council Presidency is a fixed position (held by states, not people), while the person of the Council President is always the responsible minister. (See Wiki article on the Presidency.) How best to re-write that?

Not being used to comparative Wikipedia versions, I can't quite work out which are your edits and what has been done since.

There's this, for example:

Other commentators interpreted Sarkozy's publicly support for the "chanceless" Blair as a diversion tactic, whose failure will bar Blair from other top EU jobs, too.

added by Ronbomtom or something.

I've no idea what to do about the current president thing, because it includes a photo. Replace by the Slovenian flag?

All but one minor edit in the last four days is mine, the earlier ones identified by IP, as I only registered as "Rontombontom" today. But I specified the two sections I asked about, one of which is 100% new.

I added the part you quote earlier, but maybe moved it upon re-editing today.

OK, so you did the major edit under an IP, and the minor edits by Rontombontom?

Most of it seems OK to me, but for that sentence I quoted. I suggest:

Other commentators interpreted Sarkozy's publicly support for the "chanceless" Blair as a diversion tactic: according to them, Blair stands no chance of being appointed and his failure would have the effect of  disqualifying him for other top EU jobs, too.

The "chanceless" is a quote from one of the articles referenced. There's also this which I can add as another reference:

Insiders say Blair has little chance because Britain is too disconnected from the EU mainstream, and he remains too divisive a figure because of his enthusiastic support for the U.S.-led war in Iraq which split Europe in 2003.

"Tony Blair? Forget it," said one EU ambassador, speaking on condition of anonymity in accordance with diplomatic etiquette.

I updated it with the grammar correction and an extra reference next to "chanceless".

Yes, but you're translating German "chancenlos" literally from the article you reference ;). "chanceless" isn't a current English word. (You can find it in Wiktionary, but with a different meaning from the one you want).

"whose" is also the wrong relative for "tactic", you'd have to say "the failure of which".

I resuggest my complete edit, but whatever.

the current president thing

After studying the treaties a bit, I concluded that I knew it wrong: "European Council" refers only to the meetings of heads of states/government, all the ministerial meetings are referred to as "Council".
