Finally downloaded the new version. I love the dynamic rating.

However two questions:

  1. What happend to the 'copy as plain text', I miss it as it was a very helpful feature which I used often.

  2. Can someone or somebody tell me on which key the semi-colon is on the English key board. I have been able to figure out which key to use to move to the next comment, but not how to get to the previous on.

I am using a Swiss keyboard, so the keys might be in a different order. The semi-colon for me is in the bottom row next to the M or third from the right shift-key.

On my keyboard the semicolon is immediately to the right of the 'L'. (ASDFGHJKL;)

thanks rg, thats my ö and I figured, that advances me to the next comment. I mixed it up, what I am actually looking for is the 'single quote' to get to the previous comment. My single quote is in the top row next to the zero.

The single quote of the US keyboard is two to the right of the 'L'. It is strange if it would be the same key for you if it is not a single quote. The keyboard shortcuts are supposed to map to characters, not to keys. Now, it seems it does map to keys for you. Hmm, bizarre.

Take a look at the instructions for 'key preferences' in the diary. This will allow you to remap these functions to keys that are convenient for you. The relevant entries are 'NextNewComment' and 'PrevNewComment'. You can probably find some shortcuts in there you never use, deactivate them, and use those keys for comment moving.

The preference window, would that be 'Einstellung' in Extras? If it is, I can not find any button for shortcuts in there.

No, in Extras, you should first choose Extensions (maybe "Erweiterungen"?), third from top; then in the pop-up window, scroll down to TribExt, click on it, and then you'll see an Einstellungen button for TribExt.

Guess what, it was add-ons in Extras, instead of Einstellung. :-) I will give it a try when I have a little more time.

I meant Erweiterungen not Einstellungen.

Copying plain text is equivalent to the basic Firefox feature "Copy" (must be Kopieren on your Firefox). Mark a text, right-click, and it should be third from top in the pop-up menu.

'Copy' is not the same as 'copy as plain text'. When I prepare some of the links for the Salon in advance into a Word file, some of the links, like the EUobserver, do not automatically copy the headline with the rest. So I have to copy the headline separately. If I use copy, it also copies the format of the headline and messes up the wordfile and I have to reformat it. With 'copy as plain text' this did not happen.

Ah, you are copying into Word! But there is a solution to that - in Word.

When you insert a text, briefly you'll see a Paste icon next to the end of the text. If you move the mouse over it, a downwards arrow appears, with whoch you can open a pull-down menu. There you can chane it to plain text.

However, this should not really bother you, as if you re-insert your draft from Word into the ET edit window in Firefox, the Word formatting will disappear anyway.

Yes, I know, but I am lazy, and it is a few clicks more. I do like to reformat it, because it is easier to perceive the different paragraphs visually if they are formated the same way than when some of the text is huge, some bold and some small. Makes it more difficult visually to mark and copy the texts again.

I know it is not a big problem, it was just so convenient with the 'copy as plain text' possibility. :-)
