Given that the UK was one of the Governments that blocked the Directive, I have no idea how successful this bill will be. My home MP, Alun Michael is one of the sponsors of the Bill and there has been a concerted effort from TULO (Trade Union and Labour Party Liaison Organisation) to promote this to MPs.

We'll see. The debate takes place on the 22nd February, which is also Work Your Proper Hours Day - led by the TUC.

Yes, that was my reservation a I was reading this. I was going "but, hang on, weren't we....?"

It would be fun to see this debated, it would be interersting to see how the tories react becasue this is the sort of thing the cuddly Cameroons whould embrace, but of course the atavistic impulses of the backbenches will come to the fore.
