You forget, the establishment is by definition "the centre" and "reasonable", so anyone who is not part is automatically split Q.E.D.

The Washington Times has to portray Europe as incapable of doing anything. In this case, the ill-fitting frame they're trying to force into place is "cripplingly deep divisions".
