Is there any coincidence that sovok rhymes with murdoch ?

Matt Taibbi is just about the finest writer in American current affairs. I used to love reading his stuff on Alternet, but now he's on rolling stone I don't around to it that much.....my loss

Hmm...  You are suggesting Murdoch has turned us into sovoks?

In theory I like that Taibbi is writing for Rolling Stone because it gives him a larger audience and he seems to be able to do more in-depth pieces.  But yeah, I have no way of knowing about them.  I heard about this one from someone (sorry - I've forgotten whom) on the open thread a few days ago.

Taibbi needs a personal RSS feed.  I should be getting an e-mail alert everytime he write something. :)  Esp. since the eXile has been a little less than impressive lately.

Come, my friends, 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.

Whne you see the products of his empire the phrase "babbling nonsense" seems appropriate.

created the exile 10 years ago in Moscow. They were pioneers in deconstructing the mainstream media mindless narratives. Maybe it was logical that this started in late 90s Russia, where the gap between the underlying reality and the sanitized press version of what was going on was never wider...

But they've been incredibly prescient and on topic for all these years, and it's good to see his voice recognised in a big(ger) name outlet today.

Their archives before 2001 don't seem to be on the net anymore, unfortunately. I've found this article from June 2000 about day laborers via the JRL. There were several other major pieces of actual on-the-ground reporting in that half year, when he'd spend a full day or more with the local police, or with a doctor in a hospital, or at a monastery. I saved this in Word version, but can't find links.
