If I spoke Italian and was on my own I would consider moving to Bologna too. If you do move there I look forward to your diaries from la rossa/grassa/dotta. Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner - that I moved to Nice. Blog - Nice Experience
My only nitpick with it would be that it's the home of Nutella. "La grassa" indeed.
(cue in storm of protests in favour of delish Nutella...) When locusts move on, they leave nothing behind
there's a very good nutella-sub made with hazelnuts, carob and malt which tastes a lot better than the original, and is much healthier.
the only downside of living in bologna would be the perennial fog season.
it sure has the rep of being a fun town for students, especially compared to siena, for example! The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it. Chinese Proverb.
Cheers Melo!

And, not to put too fine a point on it, your diary was a true heavyweight among diaries, but if I emigrated SOLELY on the base of a diary I would be... wait for it... dotty.

- and have less knick-knacks on walls and ceiling. I have no problem with the latter - it's the bloody big TVs with constant sport that get on my nerves :-)
As it happens I was in Belfast in 1980, the year before my first trip to Bologna. Then, the time of the "Troubles", it wasn't the pub's decoration or even beer which was important, but whether it was Catholic or Protestant. In a Catholic one I had an interesting discussion, this time the disconcerting thing was being told that a guy had been killed near this pub just the week before. One left the pub a bit more alert than is usual after an evening's drinking :-)

So now you're saying is it too heavy - just kidding :-) Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner - that I moved to Nice. Blog - Nice Experience
