So then Clinton and McCain piled in sying that people in PA are hard-working and all sorts of good things but that Obama was insulting the good people of PA by suggesting they might fall prey to bitterness, anger guns & god while blaming standard rightwing hate-totems like immigrants, blacks and gays.

Obama just took the piss in a speech in Muncie and amazingly the tradmed agreed with him.

well, that's a rather Obama-biased way of looking at things

let's try to keep that at the Orange Satan, okay?

I think my first comment in this thread on that issue would have clearly stated where my sympathy lay on this particular one. He was right and she was ...less than right.

However, just cos I don't get a vote doesn't mean I don't have an opinion. I have been clear for over a year that Hilary was my least favourite democratic candidate and I don't see any reason to change that now. That does not translate into uncritical support for Obama, but in a particular circumstance where it was quite obvious who was responding to voters feelings and who was just talking trash I don't think it's partizan to point that out.

I'm more concerned that HRC seems to have a preference for republican messages and is clearly reaching out to McCain. And I'm much more concerned that this is the major topic of conversation in the tradmed the weekend that the White House admits they authorised and encouraged torture.

That's your opinion, not fact.

Others may not agree, is all.

AFAIK, there is no prohibition on expressing an opinion on this site

you can present all the opinions you want, but when you state them as facts, people can be expected to ask for a link ;-)

Except you didn't ask her for a link - you asked her to leave and take it to dailykos.

you are the media you consume.

yes, I did.  they don't require links for opinions presented as facts there.

Well, wait, Helen's opinionated about it, but are you suggesting that's not what happened?

?

and it isn't the opinion I object to, it's the statements such as "well, the tramed has decided that he was right after all" or some such with no back-up link, when I tried so hard to stay neutral in my comment.

I really don't appreciate having my comment twisted around to start a controversy because I wanted to avoid a controversy ;-)

I may sound harsh but I would not want for this place to become what Daily Kos has,  a place one candidate's supporters overwhelm another's by sheer number of biased comments.

A lot of people I know avoid DKos because it's just become unpleasant.

That's up to us.

ET will continue to be ET as long as we - everybody, not just the FP'ers - maintain standards.  As I've said before, and will continue to say: posting on ET is a Privilege, not a Right.

h'mmmm, how to say this?

The Open Threads are used for a more casual style of communication, social chit-chat, and bantering back-and-forth.  While not inappropriate to ask for a link or supporting evidence, neither is it 'The Thing.'

btw, I didn't use "leave" in that sense at all

I said to leave the Obama biased statements at DKos

actually, I didn't mention the word "leave" in that sense at all

that's your interpretation of it

"Leave it at daily kos" means something else altogether but you choose to interpret it in the worst possible way

okay then.

Obama was so stupid to believe that he could speak "truth to power" by calling his would-be supporters "bitter" and turning to things like guns, religion and hate.

He should have been smarter and this shows his lack of experience in another field - electioneering.
