You might be interested to know that Chicago has a significant soccer (gulp - sorry, its what we call it) following here. Those Latino immigrants we accuse of taking our jobs have really made the sport popular. Actually, it's just a big immigrant town. Latinos, Irish, Eastern Europeans ... Lots of soccer fans. Also, Chicago has a pro team. I don't really know what it's like in other parts of the country, but the last world cup was wildly popular here - everyone was watching. I frankly don't remember it very being so mainstream in the past. Anyway, yes, I see people sporting Man United gear around town. DoDo, can I call these people Sovoks? There's something Sovokish about it, no? "Pretending that you already know the answer when you don't is not actually very helpful." ~Migeru.
Although our pro team is now awful. And, being from Chicago, you know what that means: It's the stadium's fault, and they need a new one. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers. - George Carlin
Hm... you know, the Cubs haven't had new stadium in a while. ;) "Pretending that you already know the answer when you don't is not actually very helpful." ~Migeru.
We blame the "curse." We feel sorry for the team. Having to play while cursed. Not their fault they suck (actually they are doing quite well now) - it's the curse's fault. "Pretending that you already know the answer when you don't is not actually very helpful." ~Migeru.
