You might be interested to know that Chicago has a significant soccer (gulp - sorry, its what we call it) following here. Those Latino immigrants we accuse of taking our jobs have really made the sport popular. Actually, it's just a big immigrant town. Latinos, Irish, Eastern Europeans ... Lots of soccer fans. Also, Chicago has a pro team. I don't really know what it's like in other parts of the country, but the last world cup was wildly popular here - everyone was watching. I frankly don't remember it very being so mainstream in the past. Anyway, yes, I see people sporting Man United gear around town. DoDo, can I call these people Sovoks? There's something Sovokish about it, no? "This is nothing compared to how Putin rigged Eurovision."
Although our pro team is now awful. And, being from Chicago, you know what that means: It's the stadium's fault, and they need a new one. Where's your motherf*%&ing flag pin?
Hm... you know, the Cubs haven't had new stadium in a while. ;) "This is nothing compared to how Putin rigged Eurovision."
We blame the "curse." We feel sorry for the team. Having to play while cursed. Not their fault they suck (actually they are doing quite well now) - it's the curse's fault. "This is nothing compared to how Putin rigged Eurovision."
