I've made the point that the first intelligent thing to do in Iraq is apologise profusely and write some very big cheques before. Not going to happen, of course.

No, the first intelligent thing to do would be to pull out all of the soldiers. Of course, that would take quite some time.

Plan: There are around 350,000 Americans in Iraq. Say you put them on airplanes that carry 150 people. That means you need 2333 flights. If you manage 23 flights a day, it takes 100 days to get out. All their stuff gets left behind.
