Not so much because they have attracted a vicious fascist troll as because the troll in question apparently isn't a complete idiot (at least his spelling and syntax is better than your usual troll).
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I have not followed the blogs on McClachy, only looked at the stories and the cartoons. For this sort of thing blogs are usually worse than LTEs. In the 60s this was the province of the John Birch Society, many of whose members, especially those in college, were also in Young Americans for Freedom, up through the muck of which rose one Carl Rove. In the light of that history his moniker of "Turd-blossom" seems more meaningful. These organizations were fertile sources of future "trickesters." I suspect that well written LTEs and blogs that confound RW opponents are noticed by the big boys and can lead to a future in RW politics.
Know your enemy. If sanity be culturally normative, then by the norms of this culture I claim insanity.

One of the most difficult things about the past few years has been watching these people who stick to their positions and failed ideas no matter what.
Well, they do it for love, and they do it for money.
I suspect that entire multi-generational cohorts, starting with mine, will have to pass away before this changes significantly. My best revenge would be living long enough to see it happen. If sanity be culturally normative, then by the norms of this culture I claim insanity.
