Besides - Obama has pissed off everyone by not being the hero they were expecting him to be over FISA. (Surprised? No.)

The good thing about this approach to campaign funding is that people will literally vote with their wallets over this.

An interesting approach to democracy would be to make political earnings directly dependent on  continuing contributions. If you decide the incumbent is an idiot, you can stop paying them.

Add a cap to minimise outright buyout-sized donations, and you have a much more colourful and responsive kind of democracy than we have now.
