Is there a reason why the lower 3 are a tat lighter than the upper 3?

I really like that first picture, works excellent as a stand-alone.

I adjusted the brightness on all six with Picassa's fill light control. Perhaps I did an uneven job.
But upon reviewing the originals, the photos of the girls returning are lighter than those departing. I didn't take them so I don't know why.
