He was supposed to visit an oil rig here, in order to highlight the safety and awesomeness of offshore drilling.  The spill here in NOLA crippled him, and they had to cancel.

This kind of fuck up takes serious talent. To turn up on the Gulf Coast to talk about off shore drilling on the same day as a major oil spill and a hurricane is big-league disasterism.

Apparently when McCain yells at clouds, the clouds yell right back.

But it's Obama who's scaring me. He's obliterating McCain in the same way that he obliterated Clinton. Clinton was not a push-over, but she destroyed herself and her campaign in a very public way. By the time Obama had finished with her, she might as well have gone on Fox and set herself on fire.

McCain isn't exactly a beginner, but the same thing is happening to him in a very similar way.

Between this and Obama's closet condescension for the left, I'm not just feeling less and less hypnotically enthused, but - honestly - more and more creeped out.

Agreed.  The condescension for the left is creepy.  I'd give him a chance, though, working with the understanding that it's the general, and he's going to do stupid shit.

That said, the netroots need to be working on electing better candidates to put good bills on Obama's desk, should he be elected.  Better Congress, better Obama.  Force him to play out way with our new majority.  Better outcomes.

I think Obama will be a fine president.  I'm just not willing to bet my life on it.
