I've heard disappointment expressed that Button didn't stay with Brawn. But if it's a mercedes hijack, who knows ? As for Schumaker returning, dream on. He's under contract with Ferrarri until the stars grow cold

Eddie Jordan says Mercedes told Button to "look for other employment," though who knows the reality, as it's also hard to imagine Mercedes not wishing to have No.1 on their car.

That Jenson in willing to go wheel to wheel with Lewis, in Lewis' team, is courageous.

Schumi is contracted to Ferrari, but Hauk hinted at a surprise, and money is able to break contracts anywhere in the world. Though i don't give much substance to the possibility, except that Schumi does wish to drive again, and unless Massa can't quite recover, there's no chance at Ferrari.  Plus Alonso would throw his toys out of the pram.

In any case these are all tiny steps towards my dream of having the world's most corrupt but technically advanced racing being powered by wind-produced hydrogen.

Well, Button was said to have been booted for demanding too much, so I doubt the Schumi to Mercedes-Brawn speculation.

What are the odds that this will end like the season with Hamilton and Alonso at McLaren?

one would suspect, that Button is less mercurial than Alonso, but as there is more ego in F1 than in any other galactic cluster, one never knows.

well one thing that will no doubt cause an ammount of friction will be that Button will have number 1 on his car and Hamilton number 2, something that no doubt will be magnified as a problem in the eyes of hangers on and family.

I don't think that's a real issue, as it reflects reality.  They both know the 2010 results are the whole game. Button "for sure" knows that many in the paddock don't consider him an elite driver, and Lewis knows he simply didn't have a horse this year.

Insiders say that money had nothing to do with Button's change, as he was not actually asking that much. Who knows about insider rumors in F1? I think it had more to do with Mercedes' plans for the long term, as in not a long term contract so they can bring Vettel in 2011 or 12.  Kimi going to Red Bull 2011 for Webber.

Silly Season.
