I am relieved to no longer be paying for a subscription to a magazine that I had come to have to force myself to read. It used to be a better magazine. And given current realities, what are we to think about a columnists in a British news weekly who calls himself Charlemagne? Does he imagine himself to be Charlemagne in exile? Perhaps the Pope should crown him Emperor of the Invisible British Empire on Christmas Day, 2010.

Further, I read The Leopard over 45 years ago and loved it, but not "Charlemagne's" noxious evocation.
