We're in a gated one now, although I'm not entirely sure why it's gated. Because of the road structure, it's a bit isolated, and there isn't really any crime nearby. (Gates don't really prevent crime, anyway.) Not optimal for making a getaway unless the thief wants to run a mile to the subway, which I suspect isn't easy when carrying a television or a computer.
Still, this worries me about, because I've always loved the little old terraced houses with the bay windows spreading out from the city centers. Hopefully soulless apartment complexes don't become the norm over there. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers. - George Carlin
