Apparently, Rachida Dati, who is currently #2 in the Ile De France list for the EP elections, almost was a candidate in the 1994 elections - on the PS list.

She claims she got there because she knew two then-PS members of the current UMP government, Martin Hirsch and Kouchner... She probably resigned from the PS list to keep her options open.

Although afaik neither Kouchner nor Hirsch were PS members in 1994.

True, alhtough he had been a member of nearly all leftwing governments from 1988 to 2001...
