Borghese - quite a name:
Borghese is the surname of a family of Italian noble and papal background, originating in Siena as the Borghese or Borghesi, where they came to prominence in the 13th century holding official offices under the commune. The head of the family, Marcantonio I moved to Rome in the 16th century and there, following the election (1605) of his son Camillo Borghese as Pope Paul V who was an unabashed nepotist, they rose in power and wealth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borghese

By weird coincidence - last night on my way to jazz i had a drink near the port at - Café Borghese ! :-) Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner - that I moved to Nice.

...and now i know why i found abstract expressionism quite soulless.

Interestingly, two of my favorite historians, E.H. Carr and Eric Hobsbawm, are on the list of those who never participated in CIA front organizations. I suspect that the reasons ran in both directions. As the Dutch said while fighting the Spanish: "It is not necessary to have hope in order to persevere."
Related, I highly recommend Kracauer's "From Caligari to Hitler" to anyone remotely interested in German Expressionism. "Talking nonsense is the sole privilege mankind possesses over the other organisms." -Dostoevsky
