Well no team has ever won the confederations cup and then gone on to win the world cup the next year, so it gives the rest of the world a chance in the big one. ;)

Any idiot can face a crisis - it's day to day living that wears you out.

It's too bad.  They had a pretty good shot to tie it on a corner kick, but sent the header a little high over the crossbar.

but apart from that bit of action, the last 20mn I saw of the game were totally one sided.

I'm in Northern Germany now, after having spent the w-e in Italy on a Oil Drum/ASPO conference/meetup. Nice change of scenery from more frustration at work.

are totally ok with taking planes to get over to such meetings (there actually were 2 US editors of the Oil Drum)...

Definitely, but, still, gotta take the opportunity to nail the other team on their mistakes.

Then again, Brazil had a goal disallowed for the ball not passing the line, when replays clearly showed that Howard hit it at the top post from inside.

I regret not having seen the first half (but saw the two wonderful goals on YouTube in replay), with the second half consisting of innumerable attacks by Brazil -- still, even in loss, I was left with the impression of a well-organised Team USA.

But Brazil knew better how to get across its defense than Spain. Even if Robinho was totally worthless, and there were too many Bundesliga-style standard attempts.
