I'm only a cynic because I've been in major band situations where this kind of stuff is discussed. Audience behaviour is quite predictable, and this kind of stuff is not done in exploitation imo, but as part of putting on a more exciting show for the fans - like pyro.
And I am in total admiration for a guy who can put that much energy into a 3 hour show and look like he's enjoying it, at pensionable age. I'd be hard pressed to carry a plectrum for 100 yards.

It's a mis-understood song, the main lyrics expose the jingoistic seeming chorus as being sarcastic (ironic ?), but sadly all people hear is the apparent triumphalism. So it gets a good response in the US and probably can get a mixed one elsewhere. keep to the Fen Causeway
