Cartoonist Les Gibbard 1945-2010 | UK news | The Guardian

Les Gibbard, illustrator, animator and political cartoonist on the Guardian for 25 years, has died at the age of 64.
He joined the Guardian in 1969, following in the footsteps of Sir David Low and Bill Papas, and at just 23 was the newspaper's youngest ever cartoonist.
Throughout the offices of the prime ministers Harold Wilson, Edward Heath, James Callaghan, Margaret Thatcher and John Major, his incisive daily pictorial commentaries gave readers a unique slant on world history.

Football Italia - the Italian football website for English-speaking football fans

There is chaos at Marassi with Serbian hooligans demolishing the stadium and injuring their own goalkeeper.
The Euro 2012 qualifier between Italy and Serbia in Genoa might not go ahead, as the visiting fans are in the process of wrecking the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
The trouble started outside with fans hurling objects at police and the security forces. They even got in to the team bus and threw smokebombs, including their own goalkeeper Stojkovic.
Serbia lost 3-1 at home to Estonia on Friday and are struggling badly in qualifying.

BBC Sport - Football - Italy-Serbia Euro 2012 tie abandoned after fan trouble

The Euro 2012 qualifier between Italy and Serbia in Genoa was abandoned after Serbia fans continued to throw flares on to the pitch and light fireworks.
The kick-off had already been delayed by 45 minutes after Serbia fans clashed with Italian police earlier in the day.
