Turkey tests legal bypass of visa problem | EurActiv
A leading Turkish lobbyist called yesterday (14 October) for the EU to lift visa requirements for his country's nationals by using as a basis a court decision. But the European Commission made clear that the long-standing problem was not likely to be resolved by legal means.

EUobserver / French centre-right MPs want to cut EU funds to Turkey
French daily Le Monde reports that around 50 deputies from president Nicolas Sarkozy's own Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) party are opposed to including so-called pre-accession funds in the national finance bill for 2011. The UMP has 317 of the 577-seat lower house.
