I hadn't read Juan Cole prior to this fight between the US and Israel. Kept getting him mixed up with John Cole of Balloon Juice. But I'm quite glad I found him. Really great blog.

Also, I'd like to point out that Jimmy Carter was right.

As usual.

Undoubtedly: The dumbest thing the US did in the last few decades was kicking Carter out of office.

I used to read Juan Cole regularly when I was in the US (before 2005). He was an invaluable source of commentary on the middle east and beyond.
