The question is what consequences the Obama presidency will have. It seems like in 2008 he allowed people to believe it was all a bad dream that would soon be over (well, some people - for some others a Black president with a muslim name was proof positive of the endtimes). What if people become disenchanted? And, are the teabaggers going through the same breakdown as the progressives did 8 years ago? The US doesn't have much debt (public or private) denominated in currencies other than the US Dollar, so the government can only go bankrupt if the Fed makes the political decision to let it go bankrupt.
