In Bedrängnis geriet die GTZ durch Ansprüche eines kongolesischen Geschäftsmanns sowie einer kongolesischen Nichtregierungsorganisation, die jeweils durch die kongolesische Justiz nicht nur Recht bekamen, sondern noch in die Höhe getrieben wurden.		A Congolese businessman and a Congolese non-governmental organisation put the pressure on the GTZ. As a result the courts not only decided for them, but pushed the settlement up.
Der Geschäftsmann klagt seit Jahren wegen einer Ladung Brennholz, die 1994 geliefert werden sollte, von der GTZ aber nie vollständig in Empfang genommen werden konnte. Mittlerweile fordert er 1,5 Millionen Dollar Schadenersatz. Vor drei Jahren ging es noch um eine Summe von mehr als 300.000 Dollar. Damals bezahlte die kongolesische Regierung die Hälfte der Summe, um den Geschäftsmann zu beschwichtigen und einen diplomatischen Eklat mit Deutschland zu vermeiden. Der Fall weckte hingegen neue Begehrlichkeiten auch von anderer Seite.		For years the businessman complained that a delivery of firewood, due in 1994, but which the GTZ never took full possession off, should nevertheless be paid in full. He now asks $ 1,500,000 in damages. Three years ago it was only $ 300,000. At that time, the Congolese government paid half the sum in order to appease both the business and to avoid a diplomatic confrontation with Germany. The settlement however caused, new demands from other sides.
Die Pfändung aller GTZ-Konten geht auf eine Forderung einer sogenannten Hilfsorganisation zurück, die von der GTZ nach dem Vulkanausbruch in Goma 2002 mit Soforthilfe beauftragt worden war, sich aber als inkompetent herausstellte. Das Projekt wurde deshalb gekündigt. Seither fordert die Organisation, unterstützt von der Justiz, Schadensersatz in Höhe von nahezu einer Million Dollar.		The seizure of all accounts GTZ is based on a claim of a so-called charity, which was commissioned by the GTZ after the volcanic eruption in Goma in 2002 with emergency aid, but turned out to be incompetent. The project was therefore terminated. Since then, calls for the organization, supported by the judiciary, in the amount of damages, nearly a million dollars.
