The review showing an overload of the planned Frankfurt-Mannheim line in the Darmstadt-Weinheim section by 2025 is not new, it is back from 2010, and can be read here (the relevant part is on pages 36-37). Of course, delaying a capacity enhancement until ways are found for needed further capacity enhancements is not the most rational thing to do...

Das sagte er bei einer Klausurtagung des Arbeitskreises ,,Verkehr" der grünen Landtagsfraktion in Mannheim. Auch bei der geplanten Schnellbahntrasse Frankfurt-Mannheim durch das südhessische Ried drängte Hermann Bund und Bahn, das Projekt jetzt zügig voranzutreiben, ,,auch wenn der Bau der Trasse sicher noch ein Jahrzehnt dauert".
