I think it is more likely that google's algorithms are changing over time. As I understand it you now get different answers depending on IP number (or rather where in the world you are indicated by your IP number), your browser, and of course if you are logged into a google account or not. There was some talk about it some time ago.

A vote for PES is a vote for EPP! A vote for EPP is a vote for PES! Support the coalition, vote EPP-PES in 2009!

well it will change as page rank on other sites goes up and down (and as spammers hit various places too)
