Just today, on the blog of Lluis Bassets in El Pais: La huelga Mundial

No conozco a nadie que estuviera al corriente de tan descomunal proyecto. Me enteré por el consejero de Interior catalán, Felip Puig, en una de sus declaraciones acerca de los graves incidentes que afectaron a la ciudad de Barcelona el día de la huelga general. El señor Puig es aficionado a comentar las actuaciones de su policía, sobre todo en los días de mayor agitación, y en aquella ocasión salió a proporcionar sus reflexiones y análisis sobre las causas que explican actuaciones tan violentas como las que pudieron ver los barceloneses el día 29 de marzo.

Algo tenía que decir el máximo responsable del orden público catalán respecto a la prevención de estos incidentes; a su represión cuando se desarrollaban y luego al castigo de los responsables. Ahí fue cuando los ciudadanos nos enterarnos de que nos encontrábamos ante un núcleo muy peligroso de revoltosos, en buena parte extranjeros, dispuestos a utilizar la ciudad como laboratorio de futuras jornadas violentas y, en concreto, como ensayo general para una huelga mundial convocada para el 15 de mayo.

The Worldwide Strike

I know noone who was aware of such a huge project. I found out through the Catalan Interior Councillor, Felip Puig, in one of his statements regarding the serious incidents that affected the city of Barcelona on the day of the general strike. Mr Puig has the habit of commenting the actions of his police, especially on the days of highest agitation, and on that occasion he came out to provide his reflections and analyses on the causes that would explain such violent acts as the inhabitants of Barcelona could see on 29 March.

The highest-ranking official responsible for Catalan public order had to say something regarding the prevention of these incidents; regarding their repression as they unfolded: and the punishment of those responsible. That's when we citizens found out that we were before a very dangerous kernel of agitators, in large part foreign, willing to use the city as a laboratory for future violent days and, in particular, as a dress rehearsal for a worldwide general strike called for May 15.
