YouTube is beginning to piss me off.

Went to listen to my Favorites Playlist and half of the songs have been blocked "Due to Copyright Issues."

the fear that a giant corporation somewhere that it might not get a fraction of a cent that it thinks is its due (that it wasn't going to pass on to the artists anyway) is beginning to get right on my tits.

Any idiot can face a crisis - it's day to day living that wears you out.

This one is still alive, with remarkably fitting lyrics, from the 80s to now:

Napster, gone. BitTorrent, gone. Google search: broken. Google maps: sanitized. YouTube: blocked in your country. Microsoft: bloatware. Android: malware-ridden. Cell phones: bandwidth restricted. e-mail: tracked in Utah.

Etc.

Leaving Apple: "We're a locked-down Fascist state, but if you buy into our system, we have everything you want and it works pretty well."

If you want to get depressed read the AI literature.  Thirty years on the same people are publishing the same stuff in an atmosphere of mutual admiration and fantasy.

The test is, how many passengers will get into an autonomous airliner?

Answer: Zero.

Most of the time a passenger airliner is under the control of the Avionic Expert System package, aka Automatic Pilot.  Take off is done by the flight crew.  Landing is mostly done by the AP, under control of the flight crew who have the capability of taking over or doing it all manually if the airport systems have gone off-line.

Of course, landing a plane is easy-peasy.

Landing a plane with the passengers and crew being able to walk away is a tad more difficult.

But the Internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it!

Except when it doesn't.

Which is most of the time, apparently.
