She is no brilliant politician. Her electoral record is lousy. She got where she is removing all rivals, by the mistakes of her predecessor (and still almost failed) and the spectacular performance of her junior partner. Her method of choice is making mushy speeches pleasing everybody and suddenly yielding in a popular direction as it becomes unavoidable.

Nor does this solve the problem of getting everybody else on board. You'd get a majority for a common liability, but a shift of sovereignity?
